Hello All
besides the rules that explains when the firmware upgrade of p5
server through HMC would be disruptive.
Is the HMC going to display the word disruptive if it were disruptive
during final confirmation something like "press OK to start disruptive
firmware" from where a point of return still exists...

Thanks for answer TIA

Correct

The HMC will mention whether the LIC upgrade will be concurrent
(perhaps with partial activation = deferred) or disruptive.
If the upgrade is disruptive, you have to power off the machine first
yourself before you start the upgrade.

From the "Operations Guide for the Hardware Management Console and
Managed SystemsVersion 7 Release 3.1.0" guide:

'If the update is disruptive, you are given the option of installing
and activating (incurring the disruption) or deferring the activation
to a more convenient time. Concurrent updates can only be done for
managed system LIC.'

you don't care about zzz except to determine if a update is disruptive
or not. zzz is the last level of an update before its transition from
concurrent to disruptive.

i.e, say you have (totally made up numbers) firmware level 240_100. your
update is 240_332_125. since your firmware service pack level (100) is
below 125 it will be disruptive. if it was 125 or above, your update
would be concurrent. either way, you will end up at 240_332 at the end.

the release notes for your firmware update should spell all this out: in
this case i used sec. 3.0 from the 9117-570 updates (as i have 570s
and just did a ucode update on one today).

(which was non disruptive. my ucode level was 240_228 and my update file
was 01SF240_332_201.rpm. that tells me my update will be concurrent as
my current version is 240 (as is the update) and my current service-pack
level (228) was higher than the min. required to be concurrent (201))
